Srinagar, May 21:The picturesque orchards of Kashmir are alive with activity as the cherry harvest season kicks off across the Valley. Known for producing some of the juiciest and most luscious cherries in the country, Kashmir is once again drawing attention with this year’s bountiful yield.

Farmers in key horticultural districts such as Shopian, Ganderbal, and Baramulla are busy hand-picking the ripe red fruit, which is set to hit markets in and outside the region. The favorable spring weather has contributed to a high-quality crop, bringing hope to thousands of growers.

“This year’s cherries are bigger, brighter, and sweeter,” says Abdul Rashid, a grower from Ganderbal. “We are expecting better returns this season.”
The Horticulture Department has expressed optimism about increased demand and better prices, especially in northern Indian markets where Kashmiri cherries are a premium delight.

As crates of cherries make their way from the valley to markets across the country, Kashmir celebrates not just a harvest, but a symbol of resilience, taste, and natural beauty.
